Nystatin is a fungistatic substance.
Binding to sterols in the cell wall of fungi, it disrupts its permeability, which leads to the release of the main components of the cell.
Active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, including Candida albicans. It does not have cumulative properties.
Pharmacokinetics
Poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
The bulk of the drug taken orally is excreted in the feces. When applied topically, it is not absorbed through the mucous membranes.
From the digestive system: Â when taking the drug inside and using rectal suppositories, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are possible.
Allergic reactions: Â skin pruritus, chills, fever.
Other services: Â there may be a risk of spreading resistant forms of fungi, which requires discontinuation of the drug.
Suppositories are inserted deep into the rectum 1 suppository 2 times a day (morning and evening). The course of treatment is 10-14 days.
If necessary, repeat courses of treatment are carried out.
