Composition

1 suppository contains:

Active ingredient:

nystatin 500,000 UNITS;

Auxiliary substances:

a sufficient amount to obtain a suppository weighing 2.1 g is butyloxyanisole,

a pure antioxidant for medical purposes;

food-grade ionol (butyloxytoluene) or dibunol;

food-grade citric acid;

medical vaseline oil;

vitepsol.

Pharmacological action

Nystatin is a fungistatic substance.

Binding to sterols in the cell wall of fungi, it disrupts its permeability, which leads to the release of the main components of the cell.

Active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, including Candida albicans.

It does not have cumulative properties.

Indications

Candidiasis of the mucous membranes (including the vagina, rectum and lower intestines), skin and internal organs; prevention of candidiasis with long-term treatment with antibacterial agents, especially in emaciated and weakened patients.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, impaired liver function, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, pregnancy.

Side effects

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sometimes fever, chills.

There may be a risk of spreading resistant forms of fungi (requires discontinuation of the drug).

Interaction

When nystatin is co-administered with clotrimazole, the activity of the latter decreases.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Suppositories are inserted into the vagina after hygiene procedures for 1 suppository 2 times a day (morning and evening).

The course of treatment is 10-14 days.

Store in a dry place, protected from light, at a temperature not exceeding 20 °C. (away from fire)
