Pharmacological action
Dexpanthenol is converted in the body to pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which is a component of coenzyme A and is involved in carbohydrate and fat metabolism: acetylation processes, in the synthesis of acetylcholine, corticosteroids, porphyrins.
Dexpanthenol has a regenerating, metabolic and weak anti-inflammatory effect (it stimulates skin regeneration, normalizes cellular metabolism and increases the strength of collagen fibers).
Indications
When applied topically, it is rapidly absorbed by the skin and converted to pantothenic acid, binds to plasma proteins (mainly beta-globulin and albumin).
Pantothenic acid is not metabolized in the body and is excreted unchanged.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side effects
Possible: allergic reactions.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Externally.
The drug is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin once or several times a day.
When caring for diaper rash in infants, it is possible to apply ointment with each diaper change.
