Composition
1 tablet contains: Active ingredient: hopantenic acid-250.00 mg or 500.00 mg; excipients: magnesium hydroxycarbonate, calcium stearate, talc, potato starch.
Pharmacological action
Pantocalcin is a nootropic.
Pharmacodynamics
The spectrum of action is associated with the presence of GABA in the structure. The mechanism of action is due to the direct effect of Pantocalcin® on the GABAB-receptor-channel complex. It has neurometabolic, neuroprotective and neurotrophic properties.
Increases the brain’s resistance to hypoxia and toxic substances, stimulates anabolic processes in neurons. It has an anticonvulsant effect, reduces motor excitability with simultaneous ordering of behavior. Increases mental and physical performance.
Promotes normalization of GABA content in chronic alcohol intoxication and subsequent withdrawal of ethanol.
It has an analgesic effect.
It is able to inhibit acetylation reactions involved in the mechanisms of inactivation of novocaine and sulfonamides, thereby prolonging the action of the latter. Causes inhibition of pathologically elevated cystic reflex and detrusor tone.
Pharmacokinetics
When taken orally, it is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Tmax in blood plasma is 1 h. The highest concentrations are created in the liver, kidneys, stomach wall, skin. Penetrates through the BBB. It is not metabolized and is excreted unchanged within 48 hours (67.5% of the dose taken – in the urine,28.5% – in the feces).
