Composition

Active ingredient:

piroxecam

Pharmacological action

Piroxicam – analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory.

Selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase, disrupts arachidonic acid metabolism, and reduces the formation of PG.

Relieves or eliminates moderate-intensity pain, reduces the severity of inflammation, reduces morning stiffness of the joints in case of joint syndrome, and helps to increase the volume of movement. The full therapeutic effect appears after 10-14 days of application.

Indications

Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondylitis, acute gout attack, inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Piroxicam is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, including to NSAIDs, peptic ulcer disease, hematopoietic disorders, liver and kidney diseases, cardiovascular insufficiency, bronchial asthma, pregnancy, breast-feeding (stop breastfeeding).

Side effects

Erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, edema, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, allergic skin reactions.

Interaction

Enhances the effect of oral anticoagulants, increases the concentration of lithium salts in the blood.

Alcohol increases the likelihood of side effects.

The level in the blood is reduced by derivatives of salicylic acid.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside,20-40 mg per day in 1-2 doses.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting (with high doses – bloody), melena, meniere’s-like phenomena, tinnitus, clonic and tonic convulsions, coma, hemorrhagic diathesis, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, petechial or bullous rash, urticaria, cortex – or typhoid-like rashes; in predisposed patients – toxic-allergic shock.

Treatment: carried out according to the generally accepted principles of clinical toxicology.

Special instructions

Patients with impaired gastrointestinal function, after extensive surgical interventions, in the elderly, patients with bronchial asthma and a history of chronic bronchospastic diseases should monitor the blood cell composition, kidney and liver function.

In women, the contraceptive effect of IUD may decrease due to the effect of piroxicam on myometrial tone. Recommendations for use in children are currently not developed. During treatment, the use of ethanol should be excluded.

Do not apply on damaged skin. Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes.

During the treatment period, care should be taken when driving vehicles and doing other activities. potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
