Pharmacological action

Psyllium infusion has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antimicrobial bacteriostatic (against staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, hemolytic streptococcus), hemostatic, anti-allergic, analgesic, expectorant, sedative, hypotensive and laxative effects.

Indications

• Hypoacid gastritis, colitis, enteritis, enterocolitis, dysentery, constipation; decreased appetite;
• kidney disease, urethritis, cystitis;
• atherosclerosis, arterial hypertension;
• trophic ulcers, bruises, wounds (including purulent), cuts, burns, boils, acne;
• inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and nasopharynx;
• metrorrhagia;
• atopic dermatitis (common neurodermitis).
• Bronchitis, whooping cough, bronchial asthma (as an expectorant drug).

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity,
• hypersecretion of gastric juice,
• hyperacid gastritis,
• peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum 12 (in the acute stage).

Side effects

Allergic reactions, heartburn.

Interaction

It should not be taken simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive medications, as this makes it difficult to remove the diluted sputum.

How to take, course of use and dosage

is 3.0 g. place in a glass or enamel dish, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover and insist for 15 minutes, periodically pressing on the bags with a spoon, then squeeze them out. The volume of the resulting infusion is brought with boiled water to 100 ml.

Infusion is taken orally in a warm form 2-3 times a day 30 minutes after meals for 7-10 days: adults and children over 12 years-1/2 cup, children from 6 to 12 years-1/3 cup, children from 3 to 5 years-1/4 cup.

It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.

Storage conditions

In a dry place, protected from light; prepared infusion – in a cool place for no more than 2 days. Keep out of reach of children.
