Characteristics

Greater plantain leaves contain mucus, bitter and tannins, and other biologically active substances.

Pharmacological action

Infusion of Greater plantain leaves increases the secretion of bronchial glands, has a mucolytic, anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates the release of gastric juice, increases its acidity.

Indications

As an expectorant in respiratory diseases(bronchitis, tracheitis, etc. ) as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug. Hypersecretion of gastric juice, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the period of exacerbation.

Side effects

How to take, course of use and dosage

About 10 g (2 tablespoons) of leaves are placed in an enamel dish,200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, then cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw materials are squeezed out. The volume of the resulting infusion is brought with boiled water to 200 ml. Take the infusion inside 2-3 times a day 30 minutes after meals for 7-10 days: children under 3 years-1 teaspoon, children from 3 to 5 years-1 tablespoon, children from 6 to 14 years-2-3 tablespoons, children over 14 years and adults-1/2 cup. Before use, the infusion is shaken.

Description

Storage conditions
