Pharmacological action
Pharmacotherapeutic group: enterosorbent agent. ATX code: A07BPHARMACOLOGICAL properties. Polisorb MP (medical oral) is an inorganic, non – selective, multifunctional enterosorbent based on highly dispersed silica with particle sizes up to 0.09 mm, with the chemical formula SiO2. The sorption capacity of the drug for internal use is 300 m2/g. Pharmacodynamics . Polisorb MP has pronounced sorption and detoxification properties. In the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract, the drug binds and removes from the body endogenous and exogenous toxic substances of various nature, including pathogenic bacteria and bacterial toxins, antigens, food allergens, medicines and poisons, heavy metal salts, radionuclides, alcohol. Polisorb MP also sorbs some metabolic products of the body, including excess bilirubin, urea, cholesterol and lipid complexes, as well as metabolites responsible for the development of endogenous toxicosis. Pharmacokinetics. Polisorb MP is not broken down or absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted unchanged.
Indications
Polysorb is taken in order to:
- stop diarrhea fast,
- free the body from the poisonous and toxic substances in poisoning,
- to relieve the symptoms of allergies and bring provoking allergens,
- relieve a hangover and its effects or prevent them in advance,
- to cleanse the body of harmful substances, radionuclides, heavy metals coming from the polluted environment, unhealthy foods,
- to make other drugs more effective, because it clears the “clogged” poorly responsive receptors cells(forresidential), and reduces side effect of antibiotics and toxic drugs: hypertensive, antidiabetic, antiepileptic, anti-allergic, antibacterial and other chemotherapeutic, kislorodnaya medicines
- to improve the appearance of the skin: cleansing oily skin of acne.
The medical indications for use are extensive:
- acute and chronic intoxication of various origin in children and adults;
- acute intestinal infections of any origin, including foodborne diseases and diarrhoeal syndrome of noninfectious origin, dysbiosis (in the complex therapy);
- purulent-septic diseases accompanied by severe intoxication;
- acute toxicity of poisonous substances, including drugs and alcohol, alkaloids, salts of heavy metals, etc. ;
- food and drug Allergy;
- viral hepatitis and other jaundice (hyperbilirubinemia);
- chronic renal failure (uremia);
- the inhabitants of the ecologically adverse regions and workers of hazardous industries, for the purpose of prevention.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of Polisorb MP during pregnancy does not have a negative effect on the fetus.
When using Polisorb MP during lactation, no adverse effects on the child were found.
It is possible to use Polisorb MP during pregnancy and lactation according to the indications and in the recommended doses.
Contraindications
- Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute phase;
- bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract;
- intestinal atony;
- individual intolerance to the drug.
Side effects
Rarely-allergic reactions, dyspepsia, constipation.
With prolonged use of Polysorb® MP for more than 14 days, there may be a violation of the absorption of vitamins and calcium, and therefore preventive use of multivitamins and calcium is recommended.
Interaction
Simultaneous use of Polisorb MP with other drugs may reduce the therapeutic effect of the latter.
How to take, course of use and dosage

First, Polysorb is always taken as an aqueous suspension, that is, the powder is mixed with 1/4-1/2 cups of water, and never taken dry inside.

Constipation is rare, and you should drink more water to prevent it. Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use (more than 14 days), there may be a violation of the absorption of vitamins and calcium, which is corrected by taking multivitamins and calcium. Polysorb is taken either 1 hour before taking medication/food, or 1 hour after taking medication/food.
Regardless of the indication, the drug is always mixed in clean water at room temperature before use (the amount of water and the drug varies depending on the age).
In addition, you can use breast milk, juice without pulp, mors or add lemon juice to water, etc.
In infants, it is permissible to use a smaller volume of water of 15-25 ml (as opposed to the recommended 30-50 ml) for stirring the drug, and the remaining volume of water (up to 50-100 ml) of the child must be drunk. In adults-before taking the drug is stirred in ½ – 1 cup of water.
