Pharmacological action
Non-hormonal anabolic agent. It has a general stimulating effect on metabolic processes. It is a stimulator of the synthesis of nucleic acids involved in protein synthesis, enhances reparative and regenerative processes in tissues. Orotic acid increases the formation of albumins in the liver, especially in conditions of prolonged hypoxia that occurs in certain diseases, such as heart failure. Improves the tolerance of cardiac glycosides, increases diuresis.
Indications
As part of combination therapy:
- diseases of the liver and biliary tract caused by intoxication (except cirrhosis with ascites);
- myocardial infarction and chronic heart failure of stage II and III;
- cardiac arrhythmias (especially with extrasystole and atrial fibrillation);
- dermatoses;
- alimentary and alimentary-infectious hypotrophy in children, progressive muscular dystrophy.
Convalescence period, increased physical activity.
Recommendations for use
Take orally 250-500 mg 2-3 times / day for 1 hour before meals or 4 hours after meals. The course of treatment is 20-40 days, if necessary, the course is repeated in a month. Children – 10-20 mg / kg / day, in 2-3 doses. The course of treatment is 3-5 weeks.
Contraindications
- Cirrhosis of the liver with ascites,
- nephrourolithiasis,
- chronic renal failure,
- hypersensitivity to orotic acid.
