Composition

Rectal suppositories are torpedo-shaped, white to yellow in color; an air rod or funnel-shaped depression is allowed on the cut.

* Prostatilen® substance is a prostate extract with added glycine.

Excipients: liquid paraffin-60 mg, solid fat (Vitepsol or Estaram, brand W35) – sufficient amount to obtain a suppository weighing 1.9 g

Pharmacological action

Preparation of animal origin. It has an organotropic effect on the prostate gland. Reduces the degree of edema, leukocyte infiltration of the prostate gland, normalizes the secretory function of epithelial cells, increases the number of lecithin grains in the secretion of acinuses, stimulates the muscle tone of the bladder. Reduces thrombosis, has antiplatelet activity, prevents the development of venous thrombosis in the prostate gland. It has an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant effect, reduces pain. It increases the level of free testosterone, increases the number of progressively mobile forms of spermatozoa and their morphologically normal forms. Causes a decrease in the level of antisperm antibodies. Normalizes male copulatory function. Pharmacokineticapeptides of prostate extract in tissues are broken down by cellular proteases to amino acids, which are involved in the synthesis of tissue-specific proteins and other biologically active compounds. The chelated complex of zinc arginyl-glycinate dihydrochloride is broken down into zinc, arginine and glycine with their subsequent metabolism. The drug has no cumulative effect.

Indications

• Chronic abacterial prostatitis, including those with impaired spermatogenesis and erectile function;
• conditions before and after surgery on the prostate gland;
• benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
• children under 18 years of age.

Use with caution in patients with acute inflammatory diseases of the rectum and perianal region, such as hemorrhoids (external and internal), anal fissures, paraproctitis, inflammation of the epithelial coccygeal passages, etc.

Side effects

Possible: short-term itching and burning in the rectum, which passes independently and does not require additional therapy; allergic reactions; loosening of the stool. If any of the above side effects get worse, or if any other side effects not specified in the instructions appear, the patient should inform the doctor.

Interaction

It can be used simultaneously with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Suppositories are administered rectally 1 pc. 1 time/day. The suppository is inserted deep into the anus after defecation or a cleansing enema. After use of the suppository, the patient is recommended to rest in the supine position for 30 minutes for better absorption of the drug components. The course of treatment is not less than 10 days. The maximum duration of treatment is 20 days. A second course is possible no earlier than 4 weeks after the end of the previous one. The drug should be used only according to the indicated method of use in the recommended doses.

Overdose

No cases of Prostatilen overdose have been reported.

Special instructions

During the period of use of the drug, it is not recommended to use laxatives and means for cleaning the intestines before conducting diagnostic tests. The drug has no special features of action at the first reception and when it is canceled, and it does not require special actions of the doctor and patient. Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature of 2° to 15°C.
