Pharmacological action

Pyrogenal is a broad-spectrum immunomodulator, the main of which are the activation of the reticuloendothelial, hypothalamic-pituitary and fibrinolytic systems. Pyrogenal has adjuvant, desensitizing and anti-inflammatory properties, increases the general and specific resistance of the body, affects the thermoregulatory centers of the hypothalamus.

The drug, stimulating cells of the phagocytic system, activates phagocytosis, the secretion of oxygen radicals, the synthesis of interleukin – 1 (IL-1, IL-2), tumor necrosis factor (TNF_-L), interferon (IFN_-L). Acting on fibroblasts, it prevents the synthesis of collagen by fibroblasts, accelerates the process of maturation of fibrocytes.

It stimulates the activity of hyaluronidase: it increases the permeability of tissues, improves the fibrinolytic properties of blood, restores blood circulation, prevents the formation of new and resolves previously formed dense scars and adhesions, prevents vascular obliteration, and stimulates tissue regeneration and epithelialization.

Activates the function of the adrenal cortex: it has an anti-inflammatory effect, increases the concentration of hormones in the blood. It stimulates the kinin system.

Indications

• The drug is intended for non-specific therapy:

  • Chronic liver diseases.
  • Strictures of the urethra and ureters.
  • Chronic prostatitis and urethritis.
  • Inflammatory processes of the uterine appendages.
  • Adhesive disease of the abdominal cavity.
  • Burn disease.
  • Venereal diseases.

  The drug is used for immunoprophylaxis and immunorehabilitation in case of incomplete recovery after acute bacterial and viral diseases.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

It is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Pyrogenal should not be administered:

• Patients suffering from acute febrile diseases.
• Pregnant women.
• people with individual intolerance to the drug.

Compensated forms of diseases of the cardiovascular system and diabetes are not contraindications to the use of suppositories.

Side effects

Fever (up to 37.5°C), chills, malaise; rarely-hyperthermia (up to 39.5°C), severe chills, headache, lower back pain.

Interaction

The drug is compatible and well combined with all drugs used in the treatment of diseases and conditions indicated in the indications. Increases the effectiveness of chemotherapeutic drugs as part of complex therapy.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Rectally,1 suppository per day daily or every other day, the initial dose is 50 mcg, the maximum dose is 200 mcg. The course of treatment is 12-15 suppositories. Recommended treatment according to the scheme: 50,50,50,100,100,100,150,150,150,200,200,200 mcg.

When using suppositories as monotherapy for immunorehabilitation in case of incomplete recovery from an acute bacterial or viral disease, suppositories of 50 or 100 mcg should be used.

The course of treatment is 5-10 suppositories.

Simultaneous treatment with suppositories and intravenous injections is possible.

Special instructions

If hyperthermia of up to 39.5°C, severe chills, headache, or lower back pain occur within 6-8 hours, then the dose of the drug should be reduced. When using the drug for pyrotherapy, the above reactions are acceptable.

In the presence of convulsive readiness, the drug is prescribed against the background of anticonvulsant therapy.

Form of production

Suppositories for rectal use, yellowish-white color, uniform consistency, cylindrical shape with a pointed end, with a diameter of no more than 10 mm.

Storage conditions

In a dark place, at a temperature of 2-10 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
