Composition

Pharmacological action

Reaferon-EC-Lipint is the world’s only oral interferon-alpha-2. Interferon in its pure form cannot be taken orally, as it is easily broken down by enzymes in the stomach. Reaferon-EC-Lipint is enclosed in liposomes that protect it from destruction in the body.

Reaferon-EC-Lipint enters the body in the most natural way – through the mouth. Non-traumatic use of the drug is very important in the treatment of children. Provides long-term presence of interferon in the blood. The liposome shell is resistant to the aggressive environment of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract.

The interferon contained in the liposome passes almost completely through the gastrointestinal tract, enters the liver, is absorbed into the blood, and begins to be released slowly, gradually. When taking Lipint, the content of its own interferon in the body is 100% higher than when injectable Reaferon-EC is administered. It is most suitable for emergency prevention of colds and flu. Preventive use of Lipint reduces the likelihood of the disease by more than 2 times. There is no risk of transmission of dangerous viral infections (AIDS, hepatitis) with a needle.

The composition of Reaferon-EC Lipint includes antioxidants-vitamins E and C. It was found that the use of interferon together with vitamins E and C enhances the antiviral effect of interferon by 14 times. With the combined use of interferon and antioxidants (vitamins E and C) in the treatment of children, the toxic effect of IFN on the growing body is neutralized.

It has antiviral, immunomodulatory and antitumor activity.

Indications

Reaferon is used for viral and tumor diseases.

The drug is effective for viral hepatitis. It is prescribed for adults in the complex therapy of acute viral hepatitis B. The drug is most effective at the beginning of the jaundice period up to the 5th day of the disease. With the developed hepatic coma and cholestatic course of hepatitis, the drug is not very effective.

It is used for viral conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis, as well as for hairy-cell leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, and kidney cancer. There are also data on the use of reaferon in the complex therapy of multiple sclerosis.

Contraindications

Allergic diseases, pregnancy (insufficient number of observations).

In patients with cardiovascular diseases, hemodynamic monitoring (periodic ECG recording) is necessary.

Individual intolerance to interferons.

Side effects

When using reaferon, chills, general malaise, fever, allergic skin reactions (rash, itching), leuko – and thrombocytopenia are possible.

With severe side effects, injections are discontinued.

How to take, course of use and dosage

of REAFERON-EC-LIPINT is taken orally,30 minutes before meals. Immediately before use,1-2 ml of distilled or chilled boiled water is added to the contents of the bottle. When shaken for 1-5 minutes, a homogeneous white suspension should form.

Acute hepatitis B: adults and school-age children – 1 million IU 2 times a day, children 3-7 years-0.5 million IU 1 time a day for 10 days, if necessary (after control biochemical blood tests) and more, until complete recovery.

Chronic hepatitis B (active and inactive replicative forms associated with glomerulonephritis):  school-age children and adults – 1 million IU, children 3-7 years-0.5 million IU for 10 days 2 times a day and then for 1 month every other day 1 time a day at night.

Special instructions

Like all interferons, in individuals with prolonged use, the drug can cause the appearance of antibodies to interferon, which leads to a decrease in the therapeutic effect.

The use of the drug for viral hepatitis B at a later date is less effective. It is not effective in developing hepatic coma and cholestatic course of the disease. In patients with an erythrodermic stage of fungal mycosis with a temperature increase of more than 39 degrees. With and in the event of an exacerbation of the process, the use of Reaferon-EC should be discontinued.

In individuals with a high pyrogenic reaction (39 deg. C and higher) for the use of Reaferon-EC, the simultaneous use of Indometacin is recommended. In case of storing the solution for topical application, it is necessary, following the rules of asepsis and antiseptics, to transfer the contents of the ampoule to a sterile bottle and store the solution in the refrigerator at 4-10 degrees. From no more than 12 hours. In case of leuco-and thrombocytopenia, a blood test should be performed 2-3 times a week.
