Rennie is an antacid drug. Contains calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, which provide rapid and long-lasting neutralization of excess hydrochloric acid in gastric juice, thereby exerting a protective effect on the gastric mucosa.
The achievement of the therapeutic effect within 3-5 minutes is due to the good solubility of the tablets and the high calcium content.
Pharmacokinetics
Suction
As a result of interaction Rennie with gastric juice, soluble calcium and magnesium salts are formed in the stomach. The degree of absorption of calcium and magnesium from these compounds depends on the dose of the drug. The maximum absorption is 10% calcium and 15-20% magnesium.
Deduction
A small amount of absorbed calcium and magnesium is excreted by the kidneys. In the intestine, insoluble compounds are formed from soluble salts, which are excreted in the feces.
When used in the recommended doses, the drug does not pose a danger to the fetus or child.
If the recommended doses are observed, the drug is well tolerated, however, in very rare cases, allergic reactions are possible — rash, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions.
Changes in the acidity of gastric juice during the use of antacids can lead to a decrease in the rate and degree of absorption of other drugs when taken simultaneously, so medications should be taken 1-2 hours before or after taking antacids.
Tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, cardiac glycosides, levothyroxine, iron preparations, fluorides, phosphates-when used simultaneously, antacids reduce the absorption of these drugs.
Thiazide diuretics — when taken concomitantly with antacids, the concentration of calcium in the blood serum should be regularly monitored.
Anticholinergic drugs Drugs enhance and lengthen the action, slowing down the emptying of the stomach.

Symptoms: Â long-term use of the drug in high doses in patients with impaired renal function can cause hypermagnesemia, hypercalcemia, alkalosis, which are manifested by nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness.
Treatment: Â you should cancel the drug and immediately consult a doctor.
When prescribing the drug to patients with impaired renal function, the concentration of magnesium, phosphorus and calcium in the blood serum should be regularly monitored.
Patients with impaired renal function are not recommended to take the drug for a long time in high doses.
High-dose use of Rennie® may increase the risk of kidney stones.
If the use of the drug is ineffective, you should consult a doctor for advice.
