Composition

10 ml xylometazoline hydrochloride 10 MGM Auxiliary substances: Adriatic Sea water – 2.4162 g, potassium dihydrogen phosphate-4.9 mg, purified water-up to 10 ml

Pharmacological action

Pharmacotherapy group: Anticonvulsant-vasoconstrictor (alpha-adrenomimetic)

Pharmacological action

Vasoconstrictor drug for intranasal use. Xylometazoline has an alpha-adrenomimetic effect: causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa and thus eliminates edema and hyperemia of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Facilitates nasal breathing in rhinitis. In therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the mucous membrane, does not cause hyperemia.

The action occurs a few minutes after application and lasts for 12 hours.

Sterilized sea water, which is part of the Rhinomaris preparation, helps maintain the normal physiological state of the nasal mucosa, dilute mucus and normalize its production in the goblet cells of the nasal mucosa.

Trace elements improve the function of the ciliated epithelium, which reduces local side effects, such as irritation and/or dryness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, the drug is practically not absorbed. The concentrations of the Active ingredient in the blood plasma are so small that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications

-acute respiratory diseases with rhinitis (runny nose);

– allergic rhinitis (pollinosis);

– sinusitis

– eustachiitis— – otitis media (to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa);

— preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

— arterial hypertension;

— tachycardia;

— severe atherosclerosis;

— glaucoma;

— atrophic rhinitis;

— thyrotoxicosis;

surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis);

— children’s age up to 6 years (for nasal spray 0.1%);

— children’s age up to 2 years (for nasal spray 0.05%);

— hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

With caution, the drug should be used for diabetes mellitus, CHD.

Side effects

From the respiratory system: with frequent and/or prolonged use – irritation and/or dryness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa, burning, tingling, sneezing, hypersecretion, swelling of the nasal mucosa.

From the cardiovascular system: palpitation, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure.

From the nervous system: headache, insomnia; with prolonged use in high doses – depression.

Other: vomiting, visual impairment.

Interaction

Rhinomaris is incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Rhinomaris nasal spray dosed 0.05%

Children aged 2 to 6 years: 1 injection in each nostril 1-2 times / day.

Children over 6 years of age: 1 injection in each nostril 2-3 times / day.

Rhinomaris nasal spray dosed 0.1%

Children over 6 years of age and adults: 1 injection in each nostril 2-3 times / day.

The drug should not be used more than 4 times a day. Duration of the course-no more than 5-7 days.

Overdose

Symptoms:  increased side effects.

Treatment:  conducting symptomatic therapy.

Special instructions

Before use, it is necessary to clean the nasal passages.

Rhinomaris should not be used for a long time, for example, in chronic rhinitis.

Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanisms

Xylometazoline in doses higher than recommended may affect the ability to drive vehicles or equipment.

Use during pregnancy and lactation During pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding), the drug should only be used after careful assessment of the risk-benefit ratio for the mother and fetus or infant. Do not exceed the recommended doses. Application at detey Rinomaris nasal spray dosed 0.1% is contraindicated in children under 6 years of age, nasal spray dosed 0.05% is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.

Form of production

Nasal spray 0.1% in the form of a clear, clear, odorless solution.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
