Pharmacological action
Sanorin is a vasoconstrictor.
Excites alpha-2-adrenergic receptors.
Pharmacodynamics
Causes narrowing of the vessels of the mucous membranes and reduces swelling, hyperemia, exudation of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, facilitates nasal breathing.
With prolonged use, the vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases, and therefore after 5-7 days of treatment, you should take a break for several days.
Indications
Acute rhinitis, sinusitis, laryngitis, eustachitis, rhinoscopy, hay fever, runny nose, allergic rhinitis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, thyroid enlargement, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, children under 2 years of age (0.1% emulsion,0.05 and 0.1% solution), up to 15 years (0.1% solution).
Side effects
- Mucosal irritation, reactive hyperemia;
- with prolonged use — swelling of the mucosa;
- nausea, headache, fever Blood pressure, tachycardia (with resorptive action).
Interaction
Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors and a period of up to 14 days after the end of their use increases the risk of severe arterial hypertension (release of deposited catecholamines under the action of naphazoline).
Slows down the absorption of local anesthetics.
How to take, course of use and dosage
For acute rhinitis, sinusitis, eustachiitis, laryngitis, to facilitate rhinoscopy for adults and adolescents over 15 years of age – 1-3 drops of 0.1% nasal drops in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day.
The course of treatment is short-term, until the symptoms of nasal congestion disappear, but not more than 1 week in adults and 3 days in children. Repeated use of the drug is possible in a few days.
In case of nosebleeds, a cotton swab moistened with 0.05% Sanorin solution can be placed in the nasal passage.
As an additional remedy in the treatment of conjunctivitis of bacterial origin, nasal drops of 0.05% are instilled into the conjunctival sac,1-2 drops 3-4 times a day.
Overdose
Symptoms: Â hypothermia, bradycardia, hyperhidrosis, drowsiness, coma.
Treatment: Â symptomatic.
Special instructions
With prolonged use, the severity of vasoconstrictor action gradually decreases (the phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), and therefore it is recommended to take a break for several days after 5-7 days of use in adults and after 3 days of use in children.
