Composition

Active ingredient:

heptapeptide 1 mg.

Auxiliary substance:

nipagin 1 mg (preservative).

Pharmacological action

Semax 0.1% – a stimulator of mental performance. Improves brain function, memory, attention, learning ability, relieves fatigue, normalizes sleep. Increases adaptation during flights and climate changes. Relieves post-narcosis syndrome.

In ophthalmology, it is effective for glaucoma optic neuropathy( glaucoma), optic nerve atrophy, and diabetic retinopathy.

In pediatrics, it is used to treat minimal brain dysfunctions, improve the child’s psychomotor activity.

Pharmacokinetics

It is absorbed from the nasal mucosa, while it is absorbed up to 60-70% in terms of the Active ingredient. Semax is rapidly distributed to all organs and tissues, penetrates through the blood-brain barrier.

Indications

• Intellectual and mnestic (memory, attention) disorders, conditions after traumatic brain injury and neurosurgical operations; prevention and treatment of post-narcosis and asthenoneurotic disorders of various origins; to increase adaptation in extreme situations; prevention of mental fatigue.
• Ophthalmology: optic nerve atrophy, neuritis of inflammatory, toxic-allergic and vascular etiology, glaucoma optic neuropathy( glaucoma), diabetic retinopathy.
• In pediatrics, it is used to treat minimal brain dysfunctions.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
• acute psychotic states, disorders accompanied by anxiety;
• pregnancy, breastfeeding;
• diseases of the endocrine system.

Side effects

With prolonged use: possible-mild irritation of the nasal mucosa.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Semax is applied intranasally.

Memory impairment-3 drops in each nasal passage 2 times a day for 10 days,2 courses per year are recommended.

Chronic brain ischemia, asthenic-neurotic disorders – 3 drops in each nasal passage for 16 days,2-4 courses per year are recommended.

Prevention of stroke and TIA – 3 drops in each nasal passage 2 times a day for 10 days,2 courses per year are recommended.

Recovery period after stroke and TIA – 4 drops in each nasal passage 6 times a day for 16 days.

Prevention of recurrent strokes and TIA – 3 drops in each nasal passage 3 times a day for 16 days,2-3 courses per year are recommended.

Traumatic brain injuries and neurosurgical operations – 3 drops in each nasal passage 3 times a day for 16 days, a second course is recommended after 6 months.

Treatment of post-narcosis memory and attention disorders – 3 drops in each nasal passage 3 times a day for 6 days.

Minimal brain dysfunctions in children, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – 2 drops in each nasal passage 3 times a day for 20 days,2-4 courses per year are recommended.

Glaucoma, optic nerve atrophy-2 drops in each nasal passage 3 times a day for 20 days,2-4 courses per year are recommended.

Improving performance, improving memory, reducing stress – 3 drops in each nasal passage 2 times a day for 10 days,1-2 courses per year are recommended.
