Senna leaves contain anthraglycosides (glucoaloemodin, glucorein, sennosides A and B), flavonoids, resinous substances, mucus, macro-and microelements and other biologically active substances.

Pharmacological action

Infusion of senna leaves has a laxative effect. The drug causes chemical irritation of the intestinal mucosa receptors, reflexively increases its peristalsis. The therapeutic effect develops in 8-12 hours after taking the drug.

Indications

: Chronic constipation (hypo -, atony of the colon), regulation of stool with hemorrhoids and proctitis (without exacerbation), anal fissures.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

It is contraindicated to use the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, perforated ulcer, intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain of unknown origin, water and electrolyte metabolism disorders, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity, proctitis and hemorrhoids(acute phase), pinched hernia, appendicitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, uterine bleeding, cystitis, spastic colitis, pregnancy, breastfeeding, children under 12 years of age.

How to take, course of use and dosage

2 filter bags (3 g) are placed in a glass or enamel dish, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover with a lid and insist for 15 minutes, periodically pressing on the bags with a spoon, then the filter bags are squeezed out, the volume of the resulting extraction is brought to 100 ml with boiled water.
