Composition

Active ingredients:

L-threonine-100 mg,

polyvinylpyrrolidone low molecular weight (povidone) – 4 mg,

Pharmacological action

Biotredin is a regulator of tissue metabolism, increases mental performance, has a therapeutic effect in alcohol withdrawal, reduces the desire for alcohol.

L-threonine in the presence of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) breaks down into the amino acid glycine and acetaldehyde, which stimulate the processes of inhibition and simultaneously redox reactions, respiration and synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in cells, due to which the drug is able to:

• reduce psychoemotional stress;
• improve short-and long-term memory;
• increase mental performance;
• increase and normalize the level of endogenous acetaldehyde and, thereby, reduce the phenomenon of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and alcohol cravings.

The effect of Biotredin ® appears 10-20 minutes after ingestion under the tongue.

Indications

It is prescribed for children, adolescents and adults with a decrease in mental performance and concentration of attention.

The drug is prescribed to people who abuse alcohol, patients with chronic alcoholism with actualization of pathological craving for alcohol, combined with affective (irritability, low mood, internal discomfort), sensory (hunger) and ideatory (thoughts about alcohol) disorders, with alcohol withdrawal syndrome, as well as to maintain remissions.

Contraindications

Alcohol intoxication, concomitant use of medications that depress the central nervous system (anxiolytics, antipsychotics, antidepressants, etc. ), hypersensitivity to vitamin B6.

Side effects

Dizziness, increased sweating, allergic reactions with vitamin B6 intolerance.

Interaction

Incompatible with antipsychotic medications, antidepressants, anxiolytics, barbiturates. Weakens the effect of antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics), antidepressants, barbiturates and other drugs that depress the central nervous system.

How to take, course of use and dosage

The drug is prescribed in tablets under the tongue or in powder form after grinding the tablet; as a means of increasing attention, mental performance: children, adolescents and adults,1 tablet 2-3 times a day for 3-10 days. If necessary, the course is repeated 3-4 times or more per year.

Patients with chronic alcoholism and alcohol abuse are prescribed 1-3 tablets 2-3 times a day for 4-5 days. If necessary, the courses are repeated 5-10 times a year.

In the treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome,1-4 tablets are prescribed 3-4 times a day on the first day (a daily dose of 3-16 tablets), on the second day and then 1-2 tablets per reception 2-3 times a day (a daily dose of 3-6 tablets) for 21-28 days.

The duration of the course can be shortened to 10-14 days.

The greatest effect of Biotredin is achieved when it is combined with Glycine (100 mg tablet). Glycine is taken under the tongue 10-15 minutes before taking Biotredin.

During remission,2-3 Biotredin tablets are taken on an empty stomach to detect a latent attraction to alcohol. The appearance within 10-20 minutes of light dizziness, a calming effect, redness of the face, sweating indicates the presence of”hidden cravings”. In these cases, a 5-10-day course of Biotredin® 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day together with Glycine 100 mg under the tongue is recommended 10-15 minutes before taking Biotredin.

Overdose

No cases of overdose were detected.

Special instructions

It is not recommended to use during the period of intoxication (because the therapeutic effect of the drug decreases).
