Pharmacological action

The therapeutic effect of Karsil is due to its effect on the metabolism of hepatocytes.

It activates the synthesis of proteins and enzymes in hepatocytes, has a stabilizing effect on the hepatocyte membrane, inhibits the penetration of toxins into liver cells, inhibits dystrophic processes, and potentiates regenerative processes in the liver.

Indications

As part of complex therapy:

• chronic hepatitis of non-viral etiology;
• liver steatosis (non-alcoholic and alcoholic);
• toxic liver damage;
• conditions after acute hepatitis;
• cirrhosis of the liver;
• prevention of liver damage with prolonged use of drugs, alcohol, chronic intoxication (including occupational).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding), the drug is not recommended for use.

Contraindications

• celiac disease (gluten enteropathy) – the presence of wheat starch in the preparation;
• children under 12 years of age.
• hypersensitivity to the active or any of the excipients of the drug Karsil Forte;
• lactase deficiency, galactosemia or glucose/galactose malabsorption syndrome (the presence of lactose in the drug);

With caution:  patients with hormonal disorders (endometriosis, uterine fibroids, breast, ovarian and uterine carcinoma, prostate cancer) – possible manifestation of the estrogen-like effect of silymarin.

Side effects

From the digestive system: rarely-dyspepsia, diarrhea.

Dermatological reactions: in some cases – alopecia, skin manifestations of allergic reactions.

Other: in some cases – exacerbation of existing vestibular disorders.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Adults are prescribed Carsil 1-2 tablets 3 times a day. If necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 12 tablets (420 mg). For preventive purposes, the drug is prescribed in a daily dose of 2-3 tablets (70-105 mg).

The duration of treatment is at least 90 days.

For children over the age of 12 years, the drug is prescribed in a daily dose of 5 mg/kg of body weight, divided into 2-3 doses.

Dragees are taken orally without chewing.

Overdose

no reported cases of overdose.

If you accidentally take a dose several times higher than the therapeutic dose, you should induce vomiting, flush the stomach, take activated charcoal and, if necessary, conduct symptomatic treatment.

Special instructions

due to the likely estrogen-like effect of silymarin, it should be used with caution in patients with hormonal disorders (endometriosis, uterine fibroids, breast, ovarian, uterine and prostate carcinoma). In these cases, you need to consult a specialist.

The drug is not used for the treatment of acute intoxication.

The preparation contains wheat starch as an auxiliary substance.

Wheat starch can contain gluten, but only in small amounts, and is therefore considered safe for patients with celiac disease. Patients with wheat allergies (but not celiac disease) should not take this medication.

The composition of Karsil forte caps 90 mg. No. 30 excipients of the drug includes lactose. Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not take this medicine. Patients who are intolerant to certain other sugars should consult their doctor.

The drug contains sucrose as an auxiliary substance. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose, galactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency should not take this medicine.
