Composition

1 tablet contains: Active ingredient: cinnarizine-0.025 gw auxiliary substances: potato starch-0.0178 glactose (milk sugar) – 0.102 gpovidone medium molecular weight-0.0030 gsilicon dioxide colloidal (aerosil) – 0.0007 gmagnesium stearate-0.0015 g

Pharmacological action

Selective blocker of “slow” calcium channels, reduces the intake of calcium ions into cells and reduces their content in the plasmolemma depot, reduces the tone of smooth muscles of arterioles. Directly affecting the smooth muscles of blood vessels, it reduces their response to biogenic substances (epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, angiotensin, vasopressin).

The drug is absorbed in the stomach and intestines. The maximum concentration in blood plasma after oral use is 1-3 hours. The binding of cinnarizine to plasma proteins is 91%. It is completely metabolized in the liver (via dealkylation). The elimination half-life is 4 hours. It is excreted as metabolites: 1/3-kidneys and 2/3 – with feces – intestines.

Indications

• Symptoms of cerebrovascular insufficiency (dizziness, tinnitus, headache, impaired memory, decreased concentration);
• vestibular disorders (including Meniere’s disease; vertigo, tinnitus, nystagmus, nausea and vomiting labyrinthine origin);
• prevention of kinetosis (“road-sickness” – sea and air sickness);
• migraine (prophylaxis of attacks);
• peripheral circulatory disorders: Raynaud’s disease, “intermittent” claudication, acrocyanosis, trophic disorders (including trophic and varicose ulcers).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

It is contraindicated to use the drug during pregnancy. Breast-feeding should be stopped for the duration of taking the drug.

Side effects

Nervous system disorders: drowsiness, fatigue, headache, extrapyramidal disorders (limb tremor and increased muscle tone, hypokinesia), depression. From the digestive system: dry mouth, epigastric pain, dyspepsia, cholestatic jaundice.

Interaction

With the combined use of Cinnarizine and ethanol (or ethanol-containing drugs), antihypertensive, nootropic and vasodilating agents, and other drugs that have a depressing effect on the central nervous system (tricyclic antidepressants, sleeping pills, sedatives), their effect is increased.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside, after eating. For adults:

• in case of cerebral circulatory insufficiency, vestibular disorders, for the prevention of migraines-25 mg three times a day;
• in case of peripheral circulatory disorders-50-75 mg three times a day;
• for the prevention of” road sickness ” – 25 mg half an hour before the road (if necessary, repeat 25 mg after 6 hours).

The maximum daily dose of the drug should not exceed 225 mg (9 tablets) per day. Children over 5 years of age – 1/2 of the recommended dose for adults, for all indications. The duration of the course of treatment is from several weeks to several months. To achieve an optimal therapeutic effect, the drug should be taken continuously. With high sensitivity to the drug, treatment begins with 1/2 dose, increasing it gradually.

Overdose

Symptoms: vomiting, drowsiness, tremor, low blood pressure, coma. Treatment: there is no specific antidote, gastric lavage, taking activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy.

Special instructions

In patients with Parkinson’s disease, the drug should be prescribed only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the possible deterioration of the underlying disease. Due to the antihistamine effect, the drug should be discontinued 4 days before the allergic skin test. The drug may affect the result of anti-doping control of athletes (false positive result). Patients with lactose intolerance should take into account that it is part of the drug. With prolonged use, it is recommended to conduct a control laboratory study of liver, kidney, and peripheral blood function. During treatment with the drug, you should refrain from taking alcohol. Ability to influence the speed of reactions when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms, drowsiness may develop, especially at the beginning of treatment, so caution should be exercised when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
