Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics The drug Espumizan® extra reduces the amount of gas in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The Active ingredient, simethicone, has surfactant properties and the ability to reduce surface tension at the interface of two liquid / gas media, which contributes to the fusion of gas bubbles and the destruction of foam in the intestine, as a result of which the released gas is absorbed or removed naturally under the influence of intestinal peristalsis. The use of simethicone in preparation for diagnostic studies of the abdominal organs prevents the appearance of image defects caused by gas bubbles.

PharmacokineticsSimethicone is chemically inert, is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral use and acts only in its lumen. It does not interact with microorganisms and enzymes, and does not affect the digestive processes. It is excreted unchanged by the intestines.

Indications

• symptoms of excessive formation and accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract (including flatulence, increased gas formation in the postoperative period);
• symptoms of excessive gas formation caused by functional dyspepsia;
• preparation for diagnostic studies of the abdominal and pelvic organs (ultrasound, radiography, etc. ).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Espumizan ® extra can be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, intestinal obstruction, hereditary fructose intolerance.

Side effects

No side effects were observed with the use of Espumizan® extra. It is possible to develop allergic reactions to the components of the drug.

Interaction

No clinically significant interaction of simethicone with other medicinal products has been established.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside. The contents of the sachet are poured into the mouth, directly on the tongue. It is not necessary to wash down the pellets with water (if necessary, you can wash them down with water).

The drug is taken before or after a meal, if necessary-before bedtime.

The frequency of use and duration of use depend on the severity of symptoms.

If necessary, the drug Espumizan® extra can be taken for a long time.

For complaints related to excess gas generationAdults and children over 14 years of age: 1 sachet of Espumizan® extra before or after a meal, if necessary,1 sachet can be taken additionally before going to bed. If necessary, the single dose can be increased to 2 sachets of Espumizan® extra. The maximum daily dose is 6 sachets of Espumizan® extra, which corresponds to 750 mg of simethicone. Children from 6 to 14 years old: 1 sachet of Espumizan® extra before or after a meal, if necessary,1 sachet can be taken additionally before going to bed. The maximum daily dose is 3 sachets of Espumizan® extra, which corresponds to 375 mg of simethicone.

When preparing for radiography and ultrasound examinationApply 1 sachet of the drug Espumizan® extra 3 times a day after meals the day before the study and 1 sachet of Espumizan® extra in the morning on the day of the study.

The drug Espumizan® extra is intended for adults and children over 6 years of age. For children under 6 years of age, the drug Espumizan® in the form of an emulsion should be used.

The drug Espumizan® extra contains sorbitol( sorbitol), so its use in patients with hereditary fructose intolerance is contraindicated. Information for patients with diabetes mellitus: 1 sachet contains 647.90 mg of sorbitol, which corresponds to 0.05 bread units (XE).
