Composition

Active ingredient:  iodine

Pharmacological action

Iodine has a local irritant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Forms iodamines and destroys microorganisms, absorbed, actively affects the metabolism, enhancing the processes of desymilation; helps to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood.

Indications

Inflammatory diseases of the skin and mucous membranes, myositis, neuralgia (as a distraction), atherosclerosis, tertiary syphilis.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Contraindicated for oral use during pregnancy.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, pulmonary tuberculosis, nephritis, nephrosis, furunculosis, acne, chronic pyoderma, hemorrhagic diathesis, urticaria, pregnancy.

Side effects

of Iodism (runny nose, angioedema, salivation, lacrimation, acne on the skin, etc. )

Interaction

Pharmacologically incompatible with essential oils, ammonia solutions, white sedimentary mercury (explosive mixture is formed). An alkaline or acidic environment, the presence of fat, pus, and blood weaken the antiseptic activity. Weakens the hypothyroid and strumogenic effects of lithium preparations.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Externally, on damaged areas of the field.

Inside, dissolved in milk, after meals (the dose is set individually), adults for the prevention of atherosclerosis 1-10 drops 1-2 times a day for 30 days 2-3 times a year; for the treatment of atherosclerosis — 10-12 drops 3 times a day; for tertiary syphilis — 5-50 drops 2-3 times a day. The highest single dose is 20 drops, the daily dose is 60 drops. Children older than 5 years — 3-5 drops 2-3 times a day. Children over 5 years of age are prescribed 3-5 drops 2-3 times a day, children under 5 years of age are not prescribed. The highest doses of 5% solution for adults: single-20 drops, daily-60 drops.

Special instructions

When combined with yellow mercury ointment, mercury iodide may form, which has a cauterizing effect.
