Pharmacodynamics

Simethicone is a chemically inert polymer of methylsiloxane containing about 5% silicon dioxide.

Simethicone has defoaming and anti-foaming properties, significantly reduces the surface tension of purified water and model solutions of surfactants. The results of the defoaming experiments showed complete destruction of the foam within 3-6 seconds when adding a liquid suspension of simethicone at a concentration of 0.1 mg / ml. Below this threshold, the foam is not completely destroyed. As a defoamer, simethicone is also effective at a concentration of 0.1 mg / ml. This effect lasts for more than 24 hours.

The mechanism of action is based on the spread of silicone liquid over the surface of the foam film, as well as on a local change in surface tension in the contact area. Thus, rapid drainage of the liquid occurs, which contributes to the rupture of the film, as a result of which the released gas is able to be absorbed or removed naturally.

Simethicone is a chemically inert substance that has no physiological activity, it is not absorbed, passes through the digestive tract and is excreted unchanged.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of flatulence (excessive gas formation and bloating) associated with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract – including those caused by functional dyspepsia.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There are no clinical data on the effects of simethicone when used during pregnancy. Simethicone can only be used during pregnancy if the intended benefit of therapy to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus, taking into account the fact that simethicone is not physiologically active and is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. There are no data on the excretion of simethicone in breast milk. If you are pregnant, or believe that you might be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, then you should consult your doctor before using Motilegas Forte.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to simethicone or other components of the drug, children under 18 years of age, intestinal obstruction.

Side effects

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside. Take 1 capsule 3 times a day after meals with a small amount of water. The maximum daily dose is no more than 3 capsules (360 mg). Use the drug only according to the indications, the method of use and in the doses indicated in the instructions for use.

Special instructions
