Composition

Active ingredient:

heptapeptide 10 mg.

Auxiliary substance:

nipagin 1 mg (preservative).

Pharmacological action

Semax 1% — “First aid” for stroke. Thanks to its Form of production – drops in the nose – it instantly begins to act, preserving nerve cells from damage and minimizing the consequences of an acute violation of the blood supply to the brain. Prevents the occurrence of repeated strokes. Relieves post-stroke depression.

Pharmacokinetics

It is absorbed from the nasal mucosa, while it is absorbed up to 60-70% in terms of the Active ingredient. Semax is rapidly distributed to all organs and tissues, penetrates through the blood-brain barrier.

Indications

for recovery from stroke; acute period of ischemic stroke; transient ischemic attacks;acute period of TBI.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Contraindicated

Contraindications

pregnancy, breast-feeding; hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; acute psychotic states, disorders accompanied by anxiety;diseases of the endocrine system.

Side effects

With prolonged use: possible-mild irritation of the nasal mucosa.

Interaction

Given the method of use of Semax (intranasal), it is undesirable to introduce drugs that have a local vasoconstrictive effect when administered intranasally.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Semax is applied intranasally.

As an emergency medical aid in the first minutes and hours of stroke occurrence – at the prehospital stage – “Semax 1%” is administered 3 drops in each nasal passage every 20 minutes before admission to the hospital.

At the stage of treatment in the hospital, “Semax 1%” is used:

Moderate stroke – 3 drops in each nasal passage 4 times a day for 10 days.

Severe stroke – 3 drops in each nasal passage 6 times a day for 10 days.

Transient ischemic attacks (TIA) treatment at the hospital stage – 3 drops in each nasal passage 3-6 times a day for 10 days.
