Composition

Per 1 capsule: Active ingredient: Simethicone* – 80.0 mg, (Dimethicone (polydimethylsiloxane)) Silicon dioxide – 76.10 mg, Shell excipients: Gelatin-25,140 mg, Glycerin-11,580 mg, Purified water-3,200 mg, Sodium benzoate-0.048 mg, Quinoline yellow dye E-104-0.028 mg, sunset yellow dye E-110-0.007 mg. * simethicone is a mixture of dimethicone (polydimethylsiloxane) and silicon dioxide in a ratio of 95: 5.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics :

Simeotic® is a drug that reduces the amount of gas in the intestines. Active ingredient – simethicone has surface activity and the ability to reduce surface tension at the liquid / gas interface. In this case, the gas bubbles merge and the foam is destroyed, as a result of which the released gas is able to be absorbed or removed naturally under the influence of intestinal motility. The use of Simeotic® in preparation for diagnostic tests prevents the occurrence of image defects caused by gas bubbles.

Pharmacokinetics:

Simethicone is chemically inert; after oral use, it is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and acts only in its lumen. It does not affect the enzymes and microorganisms present in the gastrointestinal tract. It is output unchanged.

Indications

Excessive formation and accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract (flatulence, Remfeld syndrome, aerophagia, increased gas formation in the postoperative period);

Preparation for diagnostic examinations of the abdominal and pelvic organs (ultrasound, X-ray examinations, etc. );

Symptoms of excessive gas formation caused by functional dyspepsia;

Acute poisoning with detergents containing foaming agents (as a defoamer).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Simeotic® can be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

Intestinal obstruction;

Children under 6 years of age.

Possible allergic reactions. If you experience any of the side effects listed in the instructions or they get worse, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Interaction

No clinically significant interaction of Simeotic with other medicinal products has been established.

How to take, course of use and dosage

For complaints related to excessive gas formation:

Adults and children over 6 years of age: 2 capsules of 40 mg or 1 capsule of 80 mg 3-5 times a day, with a small amount of liquid, after each meal and before going to bed.

The duration of treatment depends on the presence of symptoms of increased gas formation. If necessary, Simeotic® can be used for a long period of time.

Preparation for diagnostic tests:  2 capsules of 40 mg or 1 capsule of 80 mg 3 times a day the day before the study,2 capsules of 40 mg or 1 capsule of 80 mg in the morning on the day of the study, without drinking water.

As a defoamer for poisoning with detergents containing foaming substances: a single dose for adults is 10-20 capsules of 40 mg or 5-10 capsules of 80 mg, for children over 6 years of age 3-10 capsules of 40 mg or 2-5 capsules of 80 mg in one dose; dosage depends on the severity of intoxication.

If there is no improvement after treatment, or if the symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, you should consult your doctor. Use the drug only according to the indications, the method of use and in the doses indicated in the instructions.

Overdose

Overdose of Simeotic® is unlikely due to the chemical and physiological inertia of the drug.

Description

Spherical or almost spherical soft gelatin capsules from yellow to orange in color with a seam and a smooth surface. The contents of the capsules are a colorless, viscous, opalescent liquid.

Special instructions

People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug may experience immediate-type hypersensitivity reactions, as well as delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions. If any allergic reactions occur, the drug should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted.

If excessive gas formation persists for a long time, it is necessary to consult a doctor for a medical examination.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms:

The drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, working with moving mechanisms).
