Composition

1 tablet contains:  

Active ingredients:

thermopsis lanceolus herb powder 6.7 mg,

sodium bicarbonate 250 mg;

Auxiliary substances:

potato starch,

talc.

Pharmacological action

Thermopsis herb has an expectorant effect, exerting a moderate irritating effect on the receptors of the gastric mucosa, reflexively increases the secretion of bronchial glands.

The alkaloids contained in thermopsis herb (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycarpine, anagyrine, thermopsin, thermopsidine) have an excitatory effect on the respiratory and, in high doses, on the emetic centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands, helps reduce the viscosity of sputum.

Indications

Cough with difficult-to-separate sputum (bronchitis, tracheitis) – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, children under 12 years of age, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum.

Side effects

Possible allergic reactions; when taking large doses – vomiting.

Interaction

Adsorbents, binders and enveloping agents can reduce the absorption of alkaloids that make up the thermopsis herb.

Thermopsol should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to separate sputum.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Thermopsol is taken orally,1 tablet 3 times a day for 3-5 days.

Special instructions

To improve the dilution and separation of sputum, it is recommended to prescribe a plentiful warm drink.
