Composition

Active ingredient:

levocabastine hydrochloride (0.54 mg / ml) in terms of levocabastine 0.5 mg / ml (0.05%);

Auxiliary substances:

propylene glycol 48.26 µl,

sodium hydrophosphate 8.66 mg,

sodium hydrophosphate monohydrate 5.38 mg,

hypromellose (2910.3 MPa. s) 2.50 mg,

polysorbate 80 1.00 mg,

benzalkonium chloride 0.15 mg (as a 50% solution of 0.03 ml),

disodium edetate 0.15 mg,

water for injection up to 1.0 ml.

Clinical Pharmacology

Pharmacodynamics : Levocabastine is a long-acting selective H1-histamine receptor blocker. The local effect occurs within 5 minutes. Visin Alerji eliminates the typical symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis (itching, redness, swelling of the conjunctiva and eyelids, lacrimation). The action lasts up to 12 hours. Pharmacokinetics: After instillation into the eyes at a dose of 15 mcg/drop, about 6 mcg of levocabastine is absorbed, and the maximum concentration in the blood plasma is reached after about 6 hours. Levocabastine binds to plasma proteins by approximately 55%. The main metabolite of levocabastine, acylglucuronide, is formed by glucuronidation, which is the main route of metabolite formation. Levocabastine is mainly excreted unchanged by the kidneys (about 70% of the absorbed amount). The half-life of levocabastine is about 39-70 hours.

Indications

Allergic conjunctivitis.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

In preclinical animal studies, levocabastine, when administered systemically at doses up to 2500 times (in mg/kg terms) above the recommended maximum dose for topical use in humans, did not cause embryotoxic and teratogenic effects. Teratogenic properties and/or an increase in embryo death were observed in animals with systemic use of levocabastine at doses more than 5000 times (in terms of mg/kg) higher than the recommended maximum dose for topical use in humans. There are no data on the use of levocabastine in pregnant women. Therefore, it is not recommended to use Visin ® Alert eye drops during pregnancy, except in cases where the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. The drug penetrates into breast milk, so breastfeeding should be stopped for the duration of treatment.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, wearing contact lenses, age up to 12 years, breast-feeding period.

Side effects

Adverse events that were observed in patients during clinical and post-marketing studies. Very often (>1/10), often (>>1/100, >><1/10), infrequently (>1/1000, <1/10), infrequently (><1/100), rarely (>1/10000, <1/100), rarely (><1/1000), very rarely (Cardiac disorders: very rare: palpitation sensation. Visual disturbances: common:   eye pain, blurred vision; infrequently: eyelid edema; very rarely: conjunctivitis, blepharitis, conjunctival edema, conjunctival hyperemia, lacrimation. General disorders and disorders at the injection site: often: burning sensation in the eyes, eye irritation; very rarely: conjunctival hyperemia, pain in the eye area, conjunctival edema, itching in the eye area, lacrimation, blurred vision. Immune system disorders: very rare: anaphylactic shock, angioedema, hypersensitivity. Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: very rare: contact dermatitis, urticaria. Nervous system disorders: very rare: headache. There have been reports of severe corneal trauma and extremely rare cases of corneal decalcification when using the drug in combination with ophthalmic solutions containing phosphates.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Locally. For adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 drop in each eye twice a day (if necessary – 3-4 times a day). Treatment should be continued until symptoms disappear. Since Visin eye drops Alerts are a suspension, the bottle must be shaken before each application. Using a dropper bottle

• Remove the cap from the dropper bottle and turn the bottle upside down.
• Do not touch any surfaces with the tip of the bottle.
• After application, screw on the cap of the dropper bottle.

Overdose

Symptoms: Accidental ingestion may cause a decrease in blood pressure, tachycardia, and severe sedation. Treatment: Forced diuresis.

Special instructions

During the treatment period, it is not recommended to use soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses – interaction with the benzalkonium chloride included in the preparation is possible. To prevent microbial contamination, avoid touching the eyelids with the pipette and close the bottle tightly. If the medicine has fallen into disrepair or the expiration date has expired, do not pour it out! Place the medicine in a plastic bag and put it in the trash can. These measures will help protect the environment!
