VizOptic eye drops 0.05%, 15ml

Composition

1 ml of eye drops contains:

Active ingredient

• Tetrisoline hydrochloride 500 mcg.

Auxiliary substances

Boric acid,

sodium tetraborate decahydrate,

disodium edetate dihydrate,

benzalkonium chloride,

purified water.

Pharmacological action

of Alpha-adrenomimetic. It has a vasoconstrictor and decongestant effect.

When applied topically, it reduces conjunctival edema, burning sensation, soreness of the eye mucosa, and lacrimation.

The vasoconstrictor effect develops within a few minutes and persists for 4-8 h

. Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, systemic absorption is low.

Indications

• moderate eye irritation: itching, swelling and hyperemia of the conjunctiva, burning, lacrimation, injection of sclera caused by chemical and physical factors (dust, cosmetics, swimming in chlorinated water, exposure to bright light or radiation from a computer monitor);
• allergic conjunctivitis.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

VisOptik is contraindicated in children under 3 years of age. During pregnancy and lactation, prescribe with caution.

Contraindications

• Glaucoma.
• Endothelial-epithelial corneal dystrophy.
• Acute cardiovascular insufficiency.
• Bacterial infection of the eyes.
• Foreign body of the eye.
• Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
• Children under 3 years of age.

With caution:

• Arterial hypertension.
• Arrhythmia.
• Aneurysm.
• Hyperthyroidism.
• Pheochromocytoma.
• Diabetes mellitus.
• Severe organic diseases of the heart and blood vessels, including:
  • Coronary heart disease.
• During treatment with MAO inhibitors and other drugs that increase blood pressure.

Side effects

Local users

Increased intraocular pressure, burning sensation and reactive hyperemia of the eye.

Rarely-dilated pupil.

Systemic reactions

increased blood pressure, hyperglycemia, heart failure, headache, nausea, drowsiness, weakness, tremor, dizziness, insomnia, tachycardia, allergic reactions.

Interaction

 Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, and guanethidine may cause arterial hypertension and tachycardia.

Concomitant use with reserpine, insulin, propranolol, general anesthesia agents, and atropine increases the risk of cardiovascular effects of tetrisoline.

Concomitant use with guanethidine may cause mydriasis with temporary visual impairment.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Instill 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day in the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye.

If no improvement occurs within 48 hours, discontinue further use of the drug and consult your doctor.

Overdose

 The development of systemic symptoms of overdose is possible if the drug is accidentally or intentionally taken orally or if the dosage is exceeded when applied topically.

Symptoms: dilated pupil, nausea, cyanosis, fever, convulsions, arrhythmias, hypertension, pulmonary edema, dyspnoea. Excessive systemic absorption of imidazole derivatives can lead to CNS depression, accompanied by drowsiness, hypothermia, bradycardia, collapse, apnea and coma.

The risk of overdose symptoms associated with the absorption of the drug is high in young children, especially if swallowed. Overdose in children can be manifested by central nervous system depression, accompanied by drowsiness, excessive sweating, severe hypotension, up to shock.

Treatment: prescribe activated charcoal, gastric lavage, oxygen inhalation, the use of antipyretics and anticonvulsants. To reduce blood pressure, phentolamine is used 5 mg in 0.9% sodium chloride solution slowly intravenously or 100 mg orally. The specific antidote is unknown.

Special instructions

 VisOptik should be used only for mild eye irritation. If irritation and hyperemia of the conjunctiva are associated with an infectious disease, the presence of a foreign body or chemical trauma to the cornea, an optometrist should be consulted.

If within 48 hours after the start of eye drops, the symptoms of the disease persist, become more pronounced, or a side effect occurs, you should stop using the drug and consult an optometrist.

If you experience intense eye pain, headache, visual disturbances, sudden appearance of “floating spots” in front of the eyes, redness of the eyes, pain when exposed to light or double vision, you should immediately consult a doctor.

When wearing contact lenses, they are removed before instillation of the drug and re-installed 15 minutes after it. It is necessary to avoid direct contact of eye drops with soft contact lenses due to the possible violation of their transparency.

The drug should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors (including fenelzine, nialamide, iproniazid) and within 10 days after discontinuation of their use.

Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanisms

During the treatment period, care should be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention, speed of psychomotor reactions and good vision (after applying eye drops, the pupil may dilate and the feeling of blurred vision may occur).
