Pharmacological action

Zyvox is an antimicrobial drug that belongs to the class of oxazolidinones.

The mechanism of action of Zyvox is due to selective inhibition of protein synthesis in bacteria.

By binding to bacterial ribosomes, linezolid prevents the formation of the functional initiating complex 70S, which is a component of the translation process during protein synthesis.

Indications

Treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by anaerobic and aerobic gram-positive microorganisms sensitive to the drug (including infections accompanied by bacteremia):

• community-acquired pneumonia;
• hospital-acquired pneumonia;
• skin and soft tissue infections;
• infections caused by Enterococcus spp. (including strains of Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium resistant to vancomycin).

Infections caused by gram-negative microorganisms, confirmed or suspected (as part of combination therapy).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to linezolid and / or other components of Zyvox

Side effects

From the digestive system:  perversion of taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain (including spastic), flatulence, changes in total bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP.

From the hematopoietic system:  reversible anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside. It can be taken both during meals and between meals. It is prescribed in the recommended single dose 2 times a day.

Children (5 years and older):  the recommended dose is 10 mg/kg of body weight 2 times a day inside. The maximum dose for adults and children should not exceed 600 mg 2 times a day.
