Pharmacological action
Sinuforte is a herbal medicine for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses (SNP) and the nasal cavity.
Pharmacodynamics
Herbal medicine for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses (SNP) and nasal cavity. The drug affects the sensitive receptors of the trigeminal nerve in the middle nasal passage and causes reflex secretion in the nasal mucosa and SNP. Stimulated hypersecretion is accompanied by a change in the rheological properties of the secretion and normalization of its viscosity. Reflex hypersecretion in combination with the decongestant effect of the drug leads to the evacuation of secretions from the sinuses to the nasopharynx and provides physiological drainage of all sinuses simultaneously.
The drug helps restore mucociliary transport in the nasal cavity and SNP by increasing the presence of the liquid part of the secretion in the surface layer of mucus. Sinuforte increases blood microcirculation in the nasal mucosa and SNP. This is because parasympathetic stimulation, which activates secretion, also causes vasodilation of the vessels supplying the glands.
Increased reflex secretion in the form of serous-mucosal secretions is detected in a few minutes and can last from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the individual characteristics of the body.
Pharmacokinetics
The effect of Sinuforte is due to the combined effects of cyclamen components, the most studied of which are triterpene saponins. It is not possible to conduct kinetic studies, since the complex of components cannot be traced using markers or bioassays. For the same reason, it is impossible to detect the metabolites of the drug.
Indications
- complex therapy of rhinosinusitis accompanied by exudative otitis media;
- complex therapy of acute and chronic sinusitis: Â chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, frontitis, etmoiditis and sphenoiditis (in the case of purulent sinusitis with generalized infection and/or orbital complications, Sinuforte should be used only in combination with antibiotics). In case of uncomplicated course of the disease, it is possible to use the drug as a monotherapy agent under the supervision of a doctor;
- the period of early postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic surgical interventions on the paranasal sinuses.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Breast-feeding should be discontinued for the duration of treatment.
Contraindicated in children under 5 years of age (use in children under 5 years of age has not been studied).
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity;
- polypous rhinosinusitis;
- paranasal sinus cysts;
- allergic rhinosinusopathy;
- allergic reactions (delayed and immediate type);
- arterial hypertension of II–III degree.
Side effects
There may be a slight or moderate burning sensation in the nasal cavity, salivation and / or lacrimation in response to irritation of the sensitive receptors of the trigeminal nerve.
In some cases, there may be redness of the face, a short headache in the frontal area, or a pale pink discharge from the nose may appear as a result of capillary diapedesis. The above short-term physiological reactions confirm the reflex mechanism of action of the drug and do not require discontinuation of treatment.
Allergic reactions are possible (including skin rash, shortness of breath, etc. ). In these cases, it is recommended to stop taking the drug and consult a specialist.
Interaction
It is necessary to refrain from preliminary use, as well as the simultaneous use of local anesthetics and / or local decongestants, due to a possible violation of the mechanism of action of Sinuforte.
If necessary, a combination of Sinuforte with antibacterial drugs is possible.
Interaction with other drugs has not been studied to date.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Intranasally, adults and children over 5 years of age.
Sequence of actions when using the drug
With each push, the dispenser sprays 0.13 ml (2-3 drops) of the drug, which is about 1.3 mg of the drug (a single dose).
The drug prepared by the above method is administered 1 time a day by a single spray in each nasal passage.
The drug is recommended to be used daily, if necessary, it can be used every other day.
The duration of one course of treatment is 12-16 days when the drug is administered every other day or 6-8 days with daily use.
Overdose
Currently, no overdose cases of Sinuforte have been reported. Exceeding a single dose does not lead to an increase in the therapeutic effect and can cause a strong burning sensation and pain in the nasopharynx.
If symptoms of overdose occur, it is necessary to conduct symptomatic therapy: rinse the nasal cavity, rinse the throat with warm water and apply antihistamines.
Special instructions
During postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic interventions, Sinuforte is used on the second day to clean (sanatize) the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity and reduce mucosal edema.
When using Sinuforte, avoid contact with the eyes due to the irritating effect of the drug on the mucous membrane of the eye and the possible development of acute conjunctivitis.
During the use of the drug, it is recommended to hold your breath.
Direct spraying of the drug should be carried out with one click with the head in an upright position.
Before use, it is recommended to consult an otorhinolaryngologist.
