Composition

of 100 ml. drops for oral use contain:

active ingredients:

sodium picosulfate in terms of anhydrous-750 mg,

excipients:

sorbitol (sorbitol),

propylene glycol,

water for injection-up to 100 ml

Pharmacological action

Slabikap – a laxative.

Reduces the absorption of electrolytes and water, increases intestinal motility.

The active form of the drug, formed by hydrolysis under the influence of intestinal microorganisms, directly excites the nerve structures of the intestinal wall, as a result of which the movement of intestinal contents accelerates.

The action occurs 10-12 hours after ingestion.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral use, it is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and does not undergo hepatic-intestinal circulation.

Indications

• Atonic constipation.
• Regulation of stool (hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures).
• Preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and radiological examinations.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity,
• intestinal obstruction,
• pinched hernia,
• acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity.
• peritonitis,
• abdominal pain (unknown origin),
• severe dehydration,
• bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract,
• metrorrhagia,
• cystitis,
• spastic constipation,
• childhood (up to 4 years),
• pregnancy (I trimester).

Side effects

• Diarrhea,
• abdominal pain,
• dehydration,
• impaired water and electrolyte balance,
• weakness,
• convulsions,
• low blood pressure.

Interaction

Increased sensitivity to cardiac glycosides may occur.

Corticosteroids and diuretics when used concomitantly with Slabicap increase the risk of developing electrolyte disorders.

Broad-spectrum antibiotics reduce the laxative effect of Slabicap.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Slabikap appoint inside, before going to bed.

For adults, the initial dose is 10 drops, with persistent constipation-up to 30 drops. For children over 4 years of age, the initial dose is 5-8 drops. Depending on the effect obtained, the dose is increased or decreased at subsequent doses.

Do not use the drug daily for more than 10 days without medical supervision.

Overdose

Symptoms: possible increased side effects. In addition, with a chronic overdose, ischemia of the colon mucosa, secondary hyperaldosteronism, urolithiasis, and renal tubule damage may develop.

Treatment: gastric lavage, correction of water-electrolyte balance disorders, prescribe antispasmodics.

Special instructions

It has no taste qualities, so children can add it to food.

In children, it should only be used as prescribed by a doctor.

Do not use daily without medical supervision for more than 10 days.
