Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid produced in the body during the conversion of cysteine.
Anti-cataract agent, has a metabolic effect. It stimulates the processes of repair and regeneration in diseases of a dystrophic nature and diseases accompanied by a sharp violation of the metabolism of eye tissues.
It helps to normalize the functions of cell membranes, activate energy and metabolic processes, preserve the electrolyte composition of the cytoplasm due to the accumulation of K+ and Ca2+, and improve the conditions for conducting a nerve impulse.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, systemic absorption is low.
Indications
The drug is used as part of complex therapy. Corneal dystrophy; cataracts (senile, diabetic, traumatic, radiation); corneal trauma (as a stimulator of reparative processes). Primary open-angle glaucoma (in combination with beta-blockers (to improve the outflow of intraocular fluid)).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Prescribing the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus or child.
Contraindications

If the side effects listed in the instructions get worse, or you notice any other side effects that are not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.
Interaction
In patients with glaucoma (open-angle), a significant increase in the hypotensive effect of beta-blockers (butylaminohydroxypropoxyphenoxymethyl methyloxadiazole or timolol maleate) was observed when combined with taurine.
The effect is enhanced by increasing the coefficient of ease of outflow and reducing the production of watery moisture.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Locally. The drug is used in the form of instillations.
For cataracts-1-2 drops 2-4 times a day for 3 months. The course is repeated at monthly intervals.
For injuries and dystrophic diseases of the cornea, apply in the same doses for 1 month.
For open-angle glaucoma (in combination with butylaminohydroxypropoxyphenoxymethyl methyloxadiazole or timolol maleate),1-2 drops 2 times a day 15-20 minutes before the appointment of one of the local antihypertensive agents, for 6 weeks, followed by cancellation for 2 weeks.
Description
Clear, colorless liquid.
Special instructions
