Pharmacological properties

Thermopsis herb has an expectorant effect, exerting a moderate irritating effect on the receptors of the gastric mucosa, reflexively increases the secretion of bronchial glands. The alkaloids contained in the herb thermopsis (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycarpine, anagirine, thermopsin, thermopsidine) have an exciting effect on the respiratory and, in high doses, on the emetic centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands, helps reduce the viscosity of sputum.

Indications

Cough with difficult-to-separate sputum (bronchitis, tracheitis) – as part of complex therapy.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

No controlled trials were conducted on pregnant women. There are no data on contact of alkaloids contained in thermopsis grass, through the placental barrier and into breast milk. Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (in the acute phase), children under 12 years of age.

Side effects

Nausea.

Interaction

Adsorbents, binders and enveloping agents can reduce the absorption of alkaloids that make up the thermopsis herb.

Thermopsol ® cough tablets should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive medications, as this makes it difficult to separate sputum.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside, adults are prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day for 3-5 days. Children over 12 years of age – one tablet 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. The need to prescribe a second course is determined by the doctor. Highest oral doses for adults (based on thermopsis): single dose-0.1 g; daily dose-0.3 g.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting. Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic treatment.

Description

Tablets from greenish-gray to greenish-gray with a yellowish tinge of color, flat-cylindrical shape. Dark spots are allowed.

Special instructions

To improve the dilution and separation of sputum, it is recommended to prescribe a plentiful warm drink.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms

There are no data on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive a vehicle and perform potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

10 tablets in a contour cell package made of polyvinyl chloride or light-proof film and aluminum foil printed varnished.
