Troxevazine is a mixture of hydroxyethyl derivatives of rutin, which is dominated by tri-hydroxyethylrutoside, which has P-vitamin activity. Troxevasin has a pronounced venotonic, capillarotonic, anti-exudative and hemostatic effect.
The drug reduces the permeability and fragility of capillaries, has an anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect. It blocks the venodilating effect of histamine, bradykinin, and acetylcholine. It has an anti-inflammatory effect on the parovenous tissue, has a pronounced antiplatelet effect.
The drug does not have an embryotoxic, teratogenic or mutagenic effect.
Indications
- : Chronic venous insufficiency, postphlebitic syndrome, trophic disorders in varicose veins and trophic ulcers. As an auxiliary treatment after sclerotherapy of veins and removal of varicose nodes. Hemorrhoids (pain, exudation, itching, and bleeding).
- Venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids during pregnancy, starting from the second trimester.
- As an adjunct treatment of retinopathy in patients with diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Troxevasin should be used during pregnancy (II and III trimesters) and during lactation if the expected benefit to the mother prevails over the possible risk to the fetus and child.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to rutosides or other components of the drug.
- Pregnancy (I trimester).
- Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, chronic gastritis in the acute phase, children under three years of age (solid dosage form).
Use with caution (long-term use) in patients with renal insufficiency, children aged 3 to 15 years
Side effects
Possible: allergic reactions, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, headache.
Interaction
The effect is enhanced with simultaneous use of ascorbic acid.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Inside, at the beginning of treatment,1 capsule is prescribed 2 times/sutai (morning and evening), with maintenance therapy-1 capsule/day for 3-4 weeks or more.
With retinopathy, the drug is prescribed 1-2 capsules 3 times a day.
Capsules should be taken with a meal.
Overdose
If you overdose, you may experience the following symptoms: agitation, nausea, headache, flushes of blood to the face.
In case of overdose, patients should wash their stomach, take activated charcoal, and start symptomatic treatment if necessary.
