Pharmacological action

Pharmaceutical action:

Troxevazine is a mixture of hydroxyethyl derivatives of rutin, which is dominated by tri-hydroxyethylrutoside, which has P-vitamin activity. Troxevasin has a pronounced venotonic, capillarotonic, anti-exudative and hemostatic effect.

The drug reduces the permeability and fragility of capillaries, has an anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect. It blocks the venodilating effect of histamine, bradykinin, and acetylcholine. It has an anti-inflammatory effect on the parovenous tissue, has a pronounced antiplatelet effect.

The drug does not have an embryotoxic, teratogenic or mutagenic effect.

Pharmacokinetics:  

The plasma concentration of hydroxyethylrutoside reaches its maximum value in 2-8 hours after use. T1 / 2 – about 24 hours.

The main part of the drug is excreted from the body with bile, and only a small part is excreted in the urine.

Indications

Pain and swelling of the extremities caused by venous insufficiency of varying severity: – pre-and post-varicose syndrome;- acute superficial thrombophlebitis and peripheral phlebitis;- ulcerative skin lesions and dermatitis on the background of varicose veins— – pain and swelling of a traumatic nature: dislocations, sprains, contusions.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Troxevasin should be used during pregnancy (II and III trimesters) and during lactation if the expected benefit to the mother prevails over the possible risk to the fetus and child.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to rutosides or other components of the drug.
• Pregnancy (I trimester).
• Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, chronic gastritis in the acute phase.

With caution: it should be used (long-term use) in case of renal insufficiency.

Side effects

Possible:  allergic reactions, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, headache.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside, at the beginning of treatment,1 capsule is prescribed 2 times a day (morning and evening), with maintenance therapy-1 capsule a day for 3-4 weeks or more.

With retinopathy, the drug is prescribed 1-2 capsules 3 times a day.

Capsules should be taken with a meal.

Special instructions

If the severity of the symptoms of the disease does not decrease during the period of using the drug, you should consult your doctor.

Taking the drug does not affect motor and mental reactions, does not interfere with driving vehicles and working with mechanisms.

There is no experience of using the drug in children under 15 years of age.
