Pharmacological action

A laxative.

Softens fecal matter; has a weak stimulating effect on intestinal motility.

Indications

Constipation.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity;
• acute inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity;
• intestinal obstruction;
• febrile syndrome;
• pregnancy.

Special instructions

Do not prescribe the drug to pregnant women because of possible reflex stimulation of the uterus.

When taken orally, vaseline oil can be released through the anal sphincter and contaminate underwear.

Form of production

Homogeneous ointment-like mass, odorless, white to yellow in color.

Practically insoluble in water,95% alcohol, slightly soluble in ether, moderately soluble in chloroform, soluble in gasoline. It is mixed with fatty oils and fats in all proportions.

Storage conditions

In a dark place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in an airtight package.
