Pharmacological action

Venitan forte is a combination drug for external use, contains a venotonic agent and a direct anticoagulant.

Escin is found in the seeds of horse chestnut (AAesculus hippocastanum L., seed), a mixture of triterpene saponins. Escin has an anti-inflammatory effect mainly in the initial phase of the inflammatory reaction, compacting the walls of capillaries and thus reducing their permeability, which is increased during inflammation.

Escin also has a positive effect on the fragility of capillary walls and increases the tone of venous walls when it weakens. All this leads to a decrease in stagnation in the venous bed and fluid accumulation in the tissues, preventing the appearance of edema.

Heparin prevents blood clotting, which reduces blood clots in the vessels, and also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Dexpanthenol and allantoin improve the absorption of active substances through the skin and thus enhance their therapeutic effect.

Indications

• Venous insufficiency (pain and heaviness in the legs, night cramps in the calf muscles, itching of the skin, swelling of the legs);
• Varicose veins;
• Injuries (bruises, soft tissue edema, post-traumatic hematomas, sprains);
• Thrombophlebitis of superficial veins.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There are no restrictions on use for indications during pregnancy or lactation.

Due to the low degree of absorption of the active substances that make up the gel, they do not have a systemic effect.

The doctor determines the need for prescribing the drug during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) individually.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side effects

Allergic reactions: in some cases-urticaria, skin rash, pruritus.

Interaction

Venitan forte should not be applied to the affected areas of the skin at the same time as other medications for external use.

How to take, course of use and dosage

A thin layer of Venitan forte gel should be applied to the skin of painful areas and around them and gently rubbed in. The gel should be applied 1-3 times a day.

For inflammatory diseases of the veins, the gel is not rubbed in. Do not apply all the necessary amount of gel at once, it is applied gradually, in small portions.

In trophic ulcers of the lower leg, gel should be applied to the edges of the ulcer where blood circulation is impaired; care should be taken that the gel does not fall directly on the surface of the ulcer.

For varicose veins of the lower extremities, it is also recommended to use an elastic bandage or wear special tightening tights.

Overdose

There are no data on overdose of Venitan forte.

Special instructions

Do not apply the cream on damaged skin, do not massage when applying.

If severe symptoms of venous insufficiency suddenly appear (swelling, discoloration of the skin, a feeling of tension and pain), especially on one leg, venous thrombosis of the lower extremities should be excluded.

If you experience these symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor.
