Pharmacological action
Local anesthetic, an acetamide derivative.
It has membrane-stabilizing activity, causes blockade of sodium channels of excitable neuronal membranes.
When applied topically, it has no irritating effect on the tissues, in the recommended doses it does not affect myocardial contractility and does not slow down AV conduction.
When applied topically on undamaged skin, a therapeutic effect occurs that is sufficient to relieve pain, without developing a systemic effect.
Indications
Neuropathic pain associated with a previous Herpes zoster infection, postherpetic neuralgia.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Versatis should not be used during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity of allergic and non-allergic origin to the active and auxiliary substances of the drug;
- hypersensitivity of allergic and non-allergic origin to local anesthetics of the amide group (for example, bupivacaine, ethidocaine, mepivacaine and prilocaine);
- inflammation or violation of the integrity of the skin at the site of application of the patch (for example, herpes zoster rashes, atopic dermatitis or wounds).
Side effects
- headache,
- dizziness,
- numbness of the tongue and oral mucosa,
- decreased blood pressure,
- decreased heart rate, burning
- sensation when the aerosol hits the analgesic surface (stops a few seconds after the onset of anesthesia).
Interaction
Since plasma concentrations of lidocaine are very low, a clinically significant drug interaction is unlikely.
It should be used with caution in patients receiving Class I antiarrhythmic drugs and other local anesthetics.
How to take, course of use and dosage
“The patch is intended for external use. The patch is applied to the skin in the area of pain once a day for up to 12 hours. No more than 3 patches can be applied simultaneously. If necessary, the patch can be cut into pieces before removing the plastic protective film. The patch should be applied to undamaged, dry, non-inflamed skin (after complete healing of herpetic rashes) covering the area of pain. Then remove the patch and take a break for at least 12 hours. Do not re-use the removed patch. The patch is applied to the skin immediately after removing it from the sachet and removing the plastic film from the sticky layer. Hair must be cut with scissors (do not shave). The effectiveness of therapy should be re-evaluated 2-4 weeks after the start of treatment. If the response to therapy is insufficient during this period or the therapeutic effect is determined only by the protective properties of the patch, treatment should be discontinued. It is necessary to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of therapy to determine the optimal number of simultaneous patches used to cover the pain area, or to increase the time periods between patch applications. The use of Versatis patch under the age of 18 is not recommended. There are no data on the safety and efficacy of Versatis patch in patients under 18 years of age. After applying the patch, avoid contact with the eyes and wash your hands immediately. The patch used contains the Active ingredient. Dispose of Versatis patch immediately after use. After removal from the skin, the patch should be folded in half with the sticky side facing inwards, so that the surface containing the Active ingredient is not visible. Used patches should not be accessible to children or pets.
Overdose
An overdose of TTC is unlikely, but it cannot be completely ruled out, since improper use can lead to higher plasma concentrations than normal.
Possible signs of systemic toxicity in this case will be similar in nature to those after the introduction of lidocaine in the form of a local anesthetic.
Special instructions
With the simultaneous use of Versatis with sleeping pills and sedatives, it is possible to increase the depressive effect on the central nervous system.
