Povidone – 20.0 mg
Sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate dihydrate, water.
Pharmacological action
The medical device “VID-KOMOD® solution of moisturizing ophthalmology” is a sterile 2% aqueous solution of povidone, which does not contain preservatives, in the original container (KOMOD®system).
Povidone aqueous solution has the required viscosity and good adhesive properties in relation to the anterior surface of the eye, due to which the VID – KOMOD® solution forms a uniform, long-lasting pre-corneal tear film, which does not wash off for a long time when blinking and does not cause a decrease in visual acuity. Thus, the eye is protected from the feeling of dryness and irritation that often occur in contact with the environment, as well as when wearing contact lenses.
The use of VID-KOMOD ® solution makes wearing hard or soft contact lenses more comfortable, while VID-KOMOD® solution is not deposited on the surface of the lenses.
The VID-KOMOD ® solution is placed in the original KOMOD ® container, which is a complex system of tanks and valves that guarantees no external air penetration and ensures the extraction of identical drops in size, regardless of the degree of effort applied. The metal parts and valves of the container in contact with the VID-KOMOD® solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver, which, together with the absolute tightness of the system, ensures the sterility of the VID-KOMOD® solution in the absence of preservatives.
This eliminates the possible undesirable effects of preservatives on the eye tissue and ensures good tolerability of the VID-KOMOD ® solution, even with prolonged use.
Indications
For additional moistening of the anterior surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva), eliminating discomfort when feeling ” dry”, feeling a foreign body, burning in the eyes, including those arising under the influence of:
- Climate factors, such as air-conditioned air in a car or plane; wind, cold, intense solar radiation, environmentally unhealthy air or cigarette smoke
- Intense visual load, for example, when working with a computer or camera for a long time, when spending too much time in front of the TV, or when driving vehicles at night
- Wearing soft and hard contact lenses
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components that make up the VID-KOMOD ® solution.
Interaction
In the case of combined use with ophthalmic drugs, it is recommended to observe a pause of at least 30 minutes between instillation of eye drops and the use of VID-KOMOD®solution. Eye ointments should always be applied 30 minutes after instillation of the VID-KOMOD ® solution.
How to take, course of use and dosage
It is recommended to instill VID-KOMOD ® solution 4-5 times a day in the conjunctival sac of each eye,1 drop. If necessary, the VID-KOMOD ® solution can be instilled more often. The frequency of instillation of VID-KOMOD® solution is set individually, depending on your feelings and according to the recommendations of an ophthalmologist or contact lens specialist. If you instill VID-KOMOD® solution very often (for example, more than 10 times a day), please consult an ophthalmologist. There are no restrictions on the duration of use of VID – KOMOD ® solution. If you still have any complaints or discomfort after applying VID-KOMOD® solution for several days, please also consult your doctor. The KOMOD® system contains and allows you to extract 10 ml of VID-KOMOD® solution, which corresponds to approximately 300 drops of solution. After full use of the contents, you should purchase a new filled container with VID-KOMOD® solution, as the system is not intended for reuse.
How to use and recommendations when wearing contact lenses
Before each instillation, remove the cap.
Please turn the container upside down with the dropper before using VID-KOMOD® solution for the first time and press the base of the container several times until the first drop appears on the tip of the dropper. After that, the system is ready for use.
When instilling the VID-KOMOD® solution, hold the container with the dropper down, pressing quickly and vigorously on its base. In this way, the dropper mechanism is activated and only one drop of the solution is extracted. Thanks to the special design of the valves in the KOMOD® system, the size of the drop and its extraction rate remain the same even with very strong pressure on the base of the container. Tilt your head back a little, draw your lower eyelid back slightly with your finger, and drop one drop into the conjunctival sac as described above. Slowly close your eyes, allowing the liquid to spread evenly over the surface of the eye. After finishing the procedure, put the cap firmly on the dropper.
When instilling, avoid contact of the tip of the dropper with the surface of the eye and skin. When wearing soft and hard contact lenses, it is possible to instill VID – KOMOD® solution into the conjunctival sac without removing the lenses.
The KOMOD® system is intended for individual use only.
