Composition

>1 ml of the solution contains: Active ingredient-picloxidine dihydrochloride-0.500 mg; which corresponds to 0.434 mg of picloxidine; excipients: dextrose (glucose) anhydrous 50,00 mg, polysorbate 800,25 mg, purified water up to 1 ml

Pharmacological action

Picloxydin-a derivative of biguanides, an antimicrobial agent, has an antiseptic effect. Active against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Eberthella typhosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Shigella dysenteria, Bacillus subtilis, Chlamidia trachomatis; some viruses and fungi. Pharmacokinetics When applied topically, systemic absorption of picloxidine is low.

Indications

Adults and children aged from 0 years

• bacterial infections of the anterior eye;
• dacryocystitis;
• prevention of infectious complications in the postoperative period after surgical

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Since there are no data confirming the safety of using Vitabact during pregnancy and lactation, its use is possible only if the benefit to the mother exceeds the risk to the fetus or child.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. Since the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied, Vitabact® is not recommended for use in pregnant and lactating women.

Side effects

In rare cases, allergic reactions may develop, manifested by conjunctival hyperemia.

Interaction

If it is necessary to instill several medications in the conjunctival sac, the drugs should be used separately at intervals of at least 15 minutes.

How to take, course of use and dosage

For the treatment of bacterial infections,1 drop of the drug is instilled into the conjunctival sac 2-6 times a day. The duration of treatment is 10 days. The expediency and necessity of extending the treatment period > 10 days should be determined by the doctor. In the postoperative period,1 drop of Vitabact is instilled into the conjunctival sac 3-4 times a day. To prevent postoperative complications (preoperative preparation),1-2 drops of the drug are instilled into the conjunctival sac immediately before surgery

Special instructions

Vitabakt eye drops are available in a sealed plastic bottle with a dropper, no pipette is required for their instillation. To open the bottle, it is necessary to screw the lid all the way up, while the spike on its inner side should pierce the dropper. To instill eye drops, it is necessary to tilt the patient’s head back a little, the patient’s gaze should be directed upwards. The drug is instilled into the lower conjunctival sac, gently pulling the lower eyelid. To prevent contamination of the drug solution during instillation, patients should avoid contact of the dropper tip with the eye and skin. Do not use Vitabact eye drops for subconjunctival injections or enter the anterior chamber of the eye. Vitabact eye drops do not change the color of contact lenses (including soft hydrophilic ones), but contact lenses are contraindicated for infectious eye diseases. If visual clarity decreases during treatment with the drug, patients should stop driving vehicles and working with mechanisms.

Store at a temperature of 15-25 °C out of the reach of children.

Shelf

life is 24 months. After opening the bottle, use for 1 month. The drug should not be used after the expiration date.
