Adults and children over 6 years of age are given 1-2 drops of 0.1% xylometazoline solution in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.
For children and children under 6 years of age, apply a 0.05% solution of 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 1-2 times a day. Do not use the drug more than 3 times a day and no more than 3-5 days.
Do not use the drug without a break for more than 3-5 days.
Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline and other components of the drug, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis), pregnancy, lactation, children under 6 years of age-for 0.1% solution (0.001 g / ml).
With caution:Â coronary heart disease (angina pectoris), diabetes mellitus, prostatic hyperplasia, hyperthyroidism, children under 2 years of age-for 0.05% solution (0.0005 g / ml).

Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, thus eliminating edema and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, restores patency of the nasal passages, facilitates nasal breathing. The effect of the drug occurs a few minutes after its application and lasts up to 10 hours.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, the drug is practically not absorbed, so its concentration in blood plasma is very low (it is not determined by modern analytical methods).

During pregnancy and lactation, it should be used only after careful assessment of the risk-benefit ratio for the mother and fetus, and it is not allowed to exceed the recommended doses.

With frequent and / or prolonged use: Â mucosal irritation, burning, tingling, sneezing, dryness of the nasal mucosa, hypersecretion.
Rarely: Â swelling of the nasal mucosa (more often with prolonged use), palpitations, cardiac arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, sleep disorders, visual disturbances.
With prolonged use in high doses: depressive state.
Incompatible with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
