Pharmacological action
hepatoprotective agent CodATH: A 16 AA 02 Pharmacological properties Heptor belongs to the group of hepatoprotectors, with antidepressant activity. It has detoxifying, regenerating, antioxidant, antifibrozing and neuroprotective effects. Ademetionine is involved in the body’s biochemical processes, while stimulating the production of endogenous ademetionine. Ademetionine (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) is a biological substance found in all tissues and fluids of the body. Its molecule is included in most biological reactions both as a donator of the methyl group-methylation of phospholipids in the lipid layer of the cell membrane (transmethylation), and as a precursor of physiological thiol compounds – cysteine, taurine, glutathione, one of the most important intracellular antitoxic agents, CoA, etc. (transsulfurization), and as a precursor of polyamines-putrescine, which stimulates cell regeneration, hepatocyte proliferation, spermidine, spermine, which are part of the ribosome structure (aminopropylation).
Indications
Intrahepatic cholestasis, hepatitis of various origins: toxic (including alcoholic), viral, medicinal (antibiotics, antitumor, antituberculous and antiviral drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives), precirrotic conditions, cirrhosis of the liver, encephalopathies of secondary origin, depressive syndromes, including secondary ones, as well as in alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Side effects
Due to the fact that the Active ingredient of the drug has an acidic pH, some patients may experience unpleasant sensations in the epigastric region when using tablets. In any case, these sensations are short-lived, are not pronounced and should not serve as a reason for stopping the course of treatment.
Interaction
No known interactions with other drugs have been observed.
How to take, course of use and dosage
During maintenance therapy, a daily dose of 800-1600 mg (2-4 tablets) is recommended. The average duration of maintenance therapy is 2-4 weeks. Tablets should be swallowed whole, without chewing. To improve the therapeutic effect, tablets are recommended to be taken between meals.
Overdose
There were no clinical cases of overdose.
Special instructions
Given the tonic effect of the drug, it is not recommended to take it before bedtime. Oral use of the drug in patients with cirrhosis of the liver associated with hyperazotemia should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor with nitrogen control. The Heptor tablet should be removed from the packaging immediately before use. Tablets of the drug are covered with a special shell that dissolves only in the intestine, so that ademetionine is released in the duodenum 12.
