Pharmacological action
It is active against various strains of influenza A and B viruses, adenoviruses, paramyxoviruses, herpes simplex virus, shingles, cytomegalovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, and immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection). The inhibitory effect on the reproduction of viruses is manifested in the early stages of their replication.
The mechanism of action of Hiporhamin is based on the inhibitory effect on viral neuraminidase. Induces the production of interferon in blood cells in vitro experiments and increases the content of interferon in the blood of patients. In vitro experiments, it has a moderate antimicrobial effect against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, tuberculosis mycobacteria, fungi of the genus Candida, and some mycelial fungi. Hiporhamin is low-toxic. It does not have allergenic, mutagenic, teratogenic and carcinogenic properties, and does not affect the immune status of the body.
Indications
Hiporhamin tablets are used in adults and children as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent for influenza A and B, parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial, adenovirus and other acute respiratory viral infections; tonsillitis and rhinitis occurring against the background of acute respiratory viral diseases and other infections caused by viruses sensitive to the drug. Shingles, chickenpox; Infections caused by drug-sensitive viruses, including CMV infection (treatment and prevention). Hiporhamin can be used in children starting from 2 months and women during pregnancy and lactation.
Contraindications

Side effects

How to take, course of use and dosage
The drug is prescribed at the earliest possible time of the disease.
– The flu, adenovirus, respiratory syncytial and other virus infections of the upper respiratory tract adults appoint 1 tablet 4-6 times/day, children over 12 years – 1 tablet 3-4 times/day., children 3 to 12 years – 1/2-1 tablet 2-4 times/day.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease: with a mild course-3-10 days, with a severe and recurrent course-2-3 weeks. Repeated courses of treatment are advisable.
– For the prevention of herpetic and cytomegalovirus infections with immunosuppressive therapy, in postoperative patients, the drug is prescribed 1 tablet of Hiporhamin 3 times a day. within 5-7 days.
Special instructions
When prescribing the drug to patients with diabetes mellitus, it should be borne in mind that 1 sublingual tablet contains 529.9 mg of sucrose.
Use in pediatrics
Hiporhamin sublingual tablets are not indicated for use in children under 3 years of age.
