Composition

of 1000 ml of the solution contains:

iodine – 14.1 g

Auxiliary substances:

potassium iodide 13.8 g,

povidone low molecular weight 122.1 g,

purified water up to 1000 ml

Pharmacological action

Antiseptic agent, when applied externally, has a bactericidal (against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including antibiotic-resistant strains of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Proteus), antifungal effect.

Indications

Treatment and prevention of purulent and indicated wounds, abrasions, burns, trophic ulcers and bedsores, osteomyelitis. Treatment of pyoderma, acne, infectious dermatitis, dermatomycosis, skin reactions after insect bites.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, hyperthyroidism, Duhring’s herpetiform dermatitis, thyroid adenoma, renal failure.

Side effects

When taken orally: allergic skin reactions, tachycardia, nervousness, sleep disorders, excessive sweating, diarrhea (in patients over 40 years of age).

For external use: rarely-skin irritation; with prolonged use on extensive wound surfaces-iodism (rhinitis, urticaria, angioedema, salivation, lacrimation, acne).

Interaction

Iodopyrone solution is incompatible with ammonia solutions, essential oils, and when in contact with white sedimentary mercury (an explosive mixture is created). The antiseptic effect of the drug weakens the presence of pus, fat, blood, acidic or alkaline environment. The solution reduces the strumogenic and hypothyroid effects of lithium preparations.

How to take, course of use and dosage

When applied externally, iodine is used to treat damaged skin areas.

For oral use, the dose is set individually, depending on the indications and age of the patient.

Topically used for washing lacunae and supratonsillar spaces-4-5 procedures at intervals of 2-3 days, for irrigation of the nasopharynx-2-3 times a week for 2-3 months, for instillation in the ear and washing – for 2-4 weeks;

in surgical practice and for burns, gauze napkins applied to the affected surface are wetted as needed.

Special instructions

With prolonged use, the phenomena of iodism are possible.
