Active ingredient: Stramonium (Stramonium) C30 Excipients: Sucrose, lactose.
Pharmacological action
Pharmacological group: Homeopathic monocomponent preparation of plant originpharmacological properties: Datura stramonium is a tall plant with dark green leaves and long white flowers. After flowering, the ovary turns into a capsule with thorns, which, when ripe, opens with four leaves and produces numerous seeds. Chemical composition: flavonoids and hydroxycoumarins; alkaloids (hyoscyamine, atropine and scopolamine). When used in standard therapeutic doses (from 5 to 10 mg/day), Datura stramonium exhibits the effect of m-holinoblokator, has a myotropic antispasmodic effect. It has analgesic, anti-asthmatic and hypnotic effects. Scopolamine also has a sedative effect.
Indications
Key symptoms for prescribing the drug: -almost complete absence of pain, despite the severity of the symptoms, with the exception of headache; – very severe congestive headaches with throbbing; – a feeling of dryness in the throat; – extreme mental agitation; – twitching, convulsions, tics, stuttering. Main cases of clinical use: Infectious diseases: severe prolonged fever, accompanied by severe redness of the face, a feeling of heat throughout the body, dry skin followed by sweating, which does not relieve the patient’s condition, headache, dryness and redness of the pharyngeal mucosa, nightmares and waking up in a state of great fear; febrile syndrome in children with a history of febrile seizures (standard therapy as a precautionary measure). In pediatrics, the use of Stramonium is often preferred over Belladonna, which has the same indications. The main difference between prescribing these two drugs is the characteristics of fever and the severity of symptoms: for Belladonna – irregular fever with peaks, while for Stramonium-prolonged fever and more pronounced, severe symptoms. Behavioral disorders: insomnia with nightmares; paradoxical reactions to psychotropic drugs. The use of Stramonium for this indication, especially for children aged 2 years, is quite effective. Stramonium is used for delirium with rage affect in the following cases: alcoholic delirium, mania, choreoid syndromes; acute psychosis with erotic hallucinations or delirium with fear affect. Otolaryngology: laryngospasm. Pulmonology: severe whooping cough; bronchospasm. Other indications: sunstroke; strabismus.
Contraindications
Individual sensitivity to the drug; lactose intolerance.
Interaction
Other medications may be used in the treatment with Stramonium.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Sublingual. Granules should be absorbed in the mouth 30 minutes before meals or 60 minutes after meals. For children from 0 to 3 years of age, the pellets are pre-diluted, shaking, in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and given to drink. The optimal amount per dose is 5 pellets. Overdose
So far, no overdose cases have been reported.
